Halloween Welcome Sign

hello, so we went to houston, tx to visit my husbands family for halloween and we thought it would be fun to bring something special with us, since his mom's birthday was on halloween and one day before mine!
We started a wooden halloween welcome sign project, it was fun especially because we got to make it together.
We cut out a cat, 2 pumpkins, some leafs and the welcome letters. After we got all those done we started to round the edges and I painted and sealed them, my hubby was working on the backboard cutting some bats a moon and some clouds into it. He also stained it and sealed it.

A custom board can be ordered Here, we have many designs! Perfect Christmas or Thanksgiving Gift!!!
He is starting on his own little business and I love to see him doing something creative and having fun.

Arepas from South America

Cook Project: Arepas from South America

We have a recipe provided from Claudia, with FreZa. Hope I'll be able to make this dish myself too...

So lately I’ve been a little bit nostalgic about my country, and I wanted to share this recipe with you, so you can have a taste of flavors from South America.

Ingredients:
2 cups of corn flour
2 1/2 cups of water
salt to taste

Pour water in a bowl with salt, then slowly add the flour and knead. Form small round tortillas (of the size of the hand, not very thick or thin). You can roast, fry or boil. Served stuffed with cheese, ham and/or beans.
You can open them like roll bread and put inside whatever you like. My favorite thing to add is cheese, avocado, tomatoes and beans. You can have them for breakfast, but also for lunch or dinner! They are delicious.

Crafting in South America

Here we have Claudia from FreZa writing about "Crafting in South America"

South of the Border

After writing about the film "Handmade Nation" I kept thinking about how the same activity can be seen and experienced differently in different parts of the world. People make arts and crafts for different reasons. Someone might make crafts because it's a family tradition, because they got layoff or they can't find a job and it's a way to make some money, or simply because it's what makes them happy. Whatever the reason, I think crafting expresses ones culture, there's a richness in it.

I have noticed that people in south american countries know how to make and craft many different things. I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that life can be a little bit harder there. You can't always go to the store to buy something you need, either because it is too expensive or it isn't available. Because of this, people are constantly using their creativity to find homemade solutions to life's everyday needs. This constant use of creativity makes us naturally good crafters.

I decided to take a look at some of my Etsy fellows from South America, and enjoyed looking at the beautiful items they have displayed in their shops.

One thing is for certain: people's crafts reveal their unique history, passion, richness and culture. I invite you to take a look at what they're making in South America.
